Dramatic blooms, rare colours, and hypnotic patterns – the couture orchids of the plant world.
Unlike standard supermarket orchids, this Special Mixed Vanda Hybrid collection showcases exceptionally rare and unique varieties, hand-selected for their extraordinary colours, intricate patterns, and bold flower forms. From speckled indigos and intense magentas to mottled golds, lilacs, and even deep near-black hues, these Vandas are living art pieces bred from elite genetic lines. Originating from tropical Southeast Asia, Vanda orchids are true epiphytes, growing high in trees and basking in bright, humid air.
These hybrids are not your average Vandas – they’re specially cultivated for floral complexity, colour rarity, and collectability, making them highly prized among orchid lovers and interior stylists alike.
Care Guide
Vandas are surprisingly manageable when grown the right way – and their flowers are worth the effort:
- Light: Needs very bright, indirect light, ideally with a few hours of morning sun. A south or east-facing window is perfect.
- Watering: If grown bare-root (traditional Vanda style), soak roots in water for 20–30 minutes every 2–3 days. If potted in bark, water when nearly dry. Use rainwater or filtered water when possible.
- Humidity: Requires high humidity (60–80%). Use a humidifier, mist daily, or keep in a greenhouse cabinet for best results.
- Temperature: Warm-growing – 20–30°C is ideal. Never allow below 15°C for extended periods.
- Feeding: Feed weekly during the growing season with a balanced orchid fertiliser. Reduce feeding during winter.
- Potting: Can be grown bare-root in baskets or mounted, or potted in coarse orchid bark for easier home care.
Best Placement in the Home
Perfect for bright conservatories, orchid displays, hanging in windows, or as a luxury centrepiece in modern interiors. Their upright, architectural form and vivid blooms make them true conversation starters.
Rarity & Ease
These special mixed Vanda hybrids are extremely rare in the UK retail market – especially with such unique patterns and colours. While they require intermediate to advanced care, they are incredibly rewarding and long-blooming. For orchid enthusiasts or boutique collectors, they offer unrivalled floral drama that simply can’t be found in mainstream stores.
