Fresh, zesty, and full of tropical glow – the newest Calathea to brighten your space.

A striking new arrival to the houseplant scene, Calathea ‘Lemon’ is quickly becoming a collector’s favourite thanks to its vivid lime-green foliage and softly patterned leaves. As a member of the Marantaceae (prayer plant) family, its leaves gently fold upward at night, adding natural movement to your indoor jungle. Native to the humid rainforests of South America, this vibrant cultivar has been specially bred for colour, compact form, and resilience – making it a perfect fit for modern homes.

Care Guide
A glow-up for your plant collection that thrives with a little consistency:

  • Light: Bright, indirect light is ideal. Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch or fade the lemony tones.

  • Watering: Keep the soil evenly moist, but not soggy. Water when the top 2–3cm of soil feels dry. Filtered or rainwater is preferred.

  • Humidity: Loves humidity (60–80%). Mist regularly or use a pebble tray or humidifier to keep foliage fresh.

  • Temperature: Prefers warm, consistent temperatures (18–26°C). Avoid cold draughts or dry air.

  • Feeding: Feed every 4–6 weeks in spring and summer with a balanced houseplant fertiliser.

  • Soil: Use a light, well-draining mix – a blend of peat-free compost, perlite, and orchid bark works best.

Best Placement in the Home
Perfect for bright bathrooms, stylish kitchens, or plant shelves where its vibrant colour can pop. Its smaller, bushier size makes it ideal for flats, apartments, or grouped plant displays.

Rarity & Ease
New to the UK market and not yet widely available, Calathea ‘Lemon’ is a fresh take on the classic prayer plant, offering striking foliage without demanding care. It’s moderately easy to care for – a great option for intermediate plant lovers or beginners with a humid space and a good watering routine.
